Reviews:
  • Matty
I have the red recent pressing and seems like side A has a horrid start to it. Seems like it jumps to the song 1 rather then easing to it. Also when its spinning it looks off kilter a bit. The version is B0025624-01
  • Detenta
Isn't this edition similiar to the HotTopic repress from 2014?Either the picture is wrong or HotTopic did a 100% identical looking repress. Does anyone know?
  • Darkraven
Yep, great sounding pressing, as with the other SRC reissues I have. Still, I would have gone with orange or light blue for this pressing - I don't understand why they would make it red, especially since their Enema of the State reissue is available on that colour, and it fits that album's colour scheme.
  • HyderCraft
This is odd. Why would they release a test pressing this late?
  • Rasmus
Interesting that perhaps the first LP I ever bought, on a whim from Hot Topic, was actually a relatively limited release and is now my second-highest valued record. Good stuff.

Album NotesBlink 182: Tom DeLonge (guitar, vocals); Mark Hopper (bass, vocals); Scott Raynor (drums).Additional personnel: Mark Trombino (piano, keyboards); Scott Russo.Recorded at Big Fish Studios, Encinitas, California.Following the release of their 1996 debut CHESHIRE CAT, Blink 182 returns with a satisfactory sophomore effort. Clearly influenced by the likes of Green Day and Weezer, Blink 182 provides fast, aggressive punk that is also melodic and fun. The trio's lyrics are filled with the angst and alienation that teens can relate to, while injecting humor also. "A New Hope" is an ode to Princess Leia and the Star Wars gang, while "Waggy" is a word bassist Mark Hoppus came up with while belching. Hard-core fans of the band will not be disappointed, as "Degenerate" is a re-recording from their demo tape, and "Lemmings" is from a split 7". All the songs on the record are catchy and infectious and hit single potential abounds. The musicianship is also there, as the chops are tight and worthy of comparison to any great punk band. Overall, DUDE RANCH proves the continued viability of punk-pop in the late '90s.

I just compared the black deluxe with this and there is virtually no difference, but i have to admit that this one has more surface noise, i guess virgin vinyl is just miles better to press. Still the greatest hits songs that appear in this are miles and leaps ahead, if you get the chance, compare them, thank me later.
  • Whiteflame
I'm really disappointed, i got both versions, the most recent red translucent one and this *deluxe* edition and they both sound the same, i truly was expecting for the black one to be better... both of the greatest hits tracks that appear here sound better on the greatest hits than in any of these releases. The only advantage i can see on the black over the red one is the noise, the black one has close to no noise and the red one has more pops and stuff, but any other difference is virtually nonexistant. I should know, i recorded them both with audacity and compared them, i also recorded the greatest hits tracks with audacity and they sound superior
  • Querlaca
That's because the two songs from dude ranch used on the greatest hits are remixes. You can hear they're mixed tottaly different, for example theres a drum build up on the begining of Dammit (greatest hits version). IT has nothing to do with mastering or pressing quality ;-)
  • Bynelad
can anyone check if on their copy around when the solo of a new hope is playing the volume drops a notch and then comes back a few seconds later.
  • Armin
Quiet, flat pressing....destroys all those Hot Toppic re issues. If you want decent sound?....get one of these. If you want something pretty to hang on a wall? Get the hot toppic pressings.
  • LadyShlak
My hot topic pressing sounds like shit, its the 2009 First pressing on clear and brown splattered Vinyl.
  • Rit
sorry for old reply. i was saying the hot topic pressings sound like a turd compared to these SRC pressings. with this pressing, regardless of colour sound so awesome the more you crank that volume knob so high :).
  • Hellmaster
not sure if you were describing the hot topic re issues at first but i do think this one sounds slightly quiet, i have to go like 30% louder (tho volume is exponential?) than with other albums that i have so that it sounds around the same volume, it anyway sounds correctly remastered in every other regard, basically no surface noise, good pressing in general. The red is still really nice to look at, though maybe an orange or gray color would have been more ad hoc, i would totes show it off to friends.
  • Vizuru
This is a great sounding Vinyl, it sounds a lot better than the CD.
  • Wizard
Yeah. The CD is terrible and doesn't have much dynamics.
  • xander
2 Copies so far...both noisy and clicky as shit. Anyone have luck with this pressing?
  • caif
mine sounds great; the packaging came with some bent corners though
  • Invissibale
Mine also came with a chip. It also did not fit on the spindle due to an excess amount of sticker around the hole.
  • Hanelynai
My copy is super noisy on side A. First song skips as well.
  • Rarranere
Lots of chips and cracks on the edge of my record...issues with the plastic being too brittle is my guess. I'm not sure this was a great sounding recording to begin with, but I didn't notice record noise or clicks
  • Marilore
Does this one have better dynamics? This album on cd is the worst thing i've heard production wise.
  • Grokinos
i agree with the other guy: this is the best-sounding version of this release. the drums sound more crisp than previous versions. SRC does it again.
  • Unnis
Yes indeed! I think it is as good as it gets!
  • JOGETIME
My copy arrived today. I have always owned this album in one format or another. The "Enema of the State" audiophile pressing sounded amazing so I am giving this one a shot. The album has never sounded good to me on cassette or CD. So tinny and just poorly recorded. I wondered what they could do here to fix that. Well I will be honest and say this one falls well short of the audiophile level I was hoping for and got with Enema. I would say its about 30% better sounding than the CD/Cassettes I have owned. Slightly more filled in sound. Especially the drums. I would say if you are a completist I would grab this but if you are looking for a great audiophile experience save the $30 and pick up Enema as that one sounds as good as it ever will...this one just doesn't match...but that is the original recordings fault more than this release.
  • Mr.mclav
Yes mine was hand numbered on rear of plastic outer sleeve. It does sound decent. Just not as good as Enema. Again not the fault of the pressing. They can't work miracles ;-)
  • Rexfire
I think the pressing sounds pretty darn good. The original recording for Dude Ranch isn't anything to write home about. But this is a very clean sounding pressing in my opinion and they did the packaging justice as well. I know we were all spoiled with the absolutely superb quality of the Enema pressing but truth is that album was just recorded with a much fuller sound than Dude Ranch was. Really excited to hear MT&TS and Self Titled with the this remastering by Kevin Gray.
  • Lilegha
Why is this record so expensive, and does this pressing sound any better than the current reissues you can find for insane amounts of cash?
  • Saberblade
The reason is, this is the first pressing run of the album. The album didn't exist on vinyl before this one.
  • Grillador
Can anyone upload a picture of their front and back cover. Trying to determine if my sealed copy is the Hot Topic exclusive or Blink-182 - Dude Ranch
